The Sydney Diaries

My god, how time flies when you’re having fun. This weekend saw my one month Aussie-versary and what a month it’s been. I’ve found a house, a job, a tan (probs the most important tbh), have explored some truly beautiful places and met some awesome people. Summer in Sydney really is the one - it’s crazy how much of a difference the sun shining down on you can make.

Today marks my first full week at work where I’m working for a fab PR and comms agency called Polkadot Communications, back to my familiar world of digital, social media and PR and boy does it feel GOOD! It also sees me leaving the gorgeous Maroubra beach flat where I have been living with some dreamy pals, as Gabs and I have secured a place in Darlinghurst - it’s all been go, I tell you.

So before I hung up my beach bum shoes (or should I say thongs!), re-engaged my brain and stepped back into the working world, I spent last weekend exploring new places and eating good food with my faves. So without further ado, here is the next snippet of my Sydney Diaries...

First up: Palm Beach

Palm Beach is situated in Sydney's Northern territory, and is the famous beach featured on TV series, Home and Away. Yes, we did annoyingly sing the theme tune (out of tune, may I add) whilst we battled the waves and ate our tapas-style dinner from our beloved camper van, Hank. (Hank actually belongs to my friend Yolanda, our Aussie babe friend/host/mum/agony aunt/life carer/designated driver).

We woke early to a beautiful sunrise, albeit a tad grey, and hiked up to the heritage-listed Barrenjoey Lighthouse to be met with beautiful views of the bay. Another one of those pinch-me-moments! Driving up the coast to visit this glorious spot is a must-do.

Next up: Glider Cafe, Potts Point

We stumbled over this tasty little spot purely by accident, Yols literally googled cafe in Potts Point and this bad boy came up. God love you, Google. We sat down in the tiny-but-seriously-comfy cafe and was met with a delightful menu; simple, easy, yet all dishes were seriously tempting. It was an Aussie brunch, but with a twist. I had an omelette, and no joke (I know I can be a tad dramatic) this was honestly the best omelette I've ever had - I did not want it to end. Glider guys, if you're reading, up the egg count and make that sexy dish a 6-egg omelette not 3. It. Was. Delicious.
